Design and Technology

At Redlands Primary School, we inspire creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills through our Design and Technology curriculum. We follow the Kapow Primary scheme, which provides a well-structured and engaging programme that encourages pupils to design, make, and evaluate purposeful products.

Kapow ensures pupils develop essential skills in areas such as mechanisms, structures, textiles, cooking, and nutrition, while fostering creativity and innovation. Lessons are designed to build progressively on knowledge and technical skills, offering hands-on, practical learning experiences.

Teachers adapt the scheme where necessary to meet the needs of our pupils, with the subject lead carefully monitoring delivery to maintain high standards. Our curriculum empowers pupils to become creative thinkers, problem-solvers, and designers—ready to apply their skills in real-world contexts.
